It began with a scarf. a simple “try this” pattern and kit, that has evolved into my lifes work. like brushfire, the layers of technique, espression, rigid calculations and ethereal possibilities inherent in weaving and textile art, grabbed ALL of my attention, and made sense of my attempts at various mediums to express the non verbal stories i so wanted to uncover. I had found my artistic home. As an artist from day 1 I explored many different mediums over the years, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, performance art. I devoured any opportunity to deepen my understanding of my self & source. so many of my earlier drawings, and watercolors and visual snapshots have provided the frameworks for my textile inquiries. for over 20 years I’ve studied Eastern Philosophies that resonates strongly in my heart, and its influence apparent in my all aspects of my life.
My current focus is on tapestry art and one-of-a-kind panels for wall, or underfoot. I am instinctively drawn to Scandinavian aesthetic and techniques, and hold tremendous respect for the observation that “weaving is of the earth” Knowing full well, i am treadling where others have before me, my adopted and underlying philosophy is this, “It came from nothing, it can return to nothing, i must not dilute the teachings” adding… and makes for an unshakable foundations to express my very own agency through my artwork.
